Why was I charged for a declined transaction?

We frequently get calls from people who have ordered from a page and had their transaction declined because of a billing address or credit card issue. When they go to their online bank account the charge shows up. Why did they get charged when the site says it was declined?

The answer is that they DID NOT get charged!

In some cases, a declined transaction will show up on your bank statement online for a day or two as a pending transaction. Rest assured that declined transactions through Shirt and Simple will NEVER become actual charges on your card or account. Only approved transactions will be charged. These pending charges only show up until our merchant account can tell your bank that the charge was declined.

If your transaction was successful you will see a confirmation page with an order receipt and if you entered a valid email address, you will be emailed an electronic receipt. If you get receipts from two different transactions it is possible that you hit the 'order' button twice. If this is the case please contact us right away so we can refund your card for the duplicate transaction and correct the quantity for the order.

If you continue to have problems ordering, please verify with your bank that the information you are entering is correct and then contact us.
